about

After the release of their debut album “With the Sky Below Us and the Ground Above,” Echoes of Silence returns with a five-song EP titled “Stop Living and Start Dreaming.” In contrast to their first record, which relied on dynamics and melody, Echoes of Silence’s latest work focuses on creating soundscapes through texture and moods. Influenced by Hammock, Lowercase Noises, and Sunlight Ascending, “Stop Living and Start Dreaming” has the potential to transport listeners to another dimension, outside of the realm of Earth’s boundaries.

The first song “Like Two Ships Passing In The Night,” fades in with a ghostly synthesizer followed by a short electronic flute piece. The song is then overtaken by the chilling but yet rising synthesizers. “They Only See In Color” makes extensive use of the E-Bow and features a rhythmic, delayed guitar line. “Welcome to the Depths of Your Soul” introduces reverb-laden guitar swells that produce a lush, daydream-like atmosphere. Perhaps the most interesting piece is “Is There Anything You Can’t Feel?” The track opens with a haunting delay-based piano line but it is soon surrounded by a sparse guitar line and more swells. However, the song soon takes on an entirely different feel when a glockenspiel and bass guitar are introduced followed by a brief section of noise which finally gives way to a calming guitar line. The EP closes with the minimalistic “If We Must Pass Away.” The electronic flute and piano return, this time surrounded by a warm, subdued synthesizer line.
